Sociological Science
On the Sociolocigal área, the most important and representative is the Department of Sociology. Sociology was first taught in Trinity College in 1968, and became an autonomous Department in 1978. It is a member of the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, one of 24 Schools within Trinity College.
The Department is internationally known for its work on migration, ethnicity and inequalities. Their main research clusters are migration, integration and identities; employment, education and stratification; power, conflict and resistance as well as digitalisation and social networks.
The Department of Sociology maintains an active programme of cutting edge and policy-relevant research. In its research, the department collaborates with various international partners and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI).
