QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. What is the meaning of the words “highly organized version” in the quotation? Explain this kind of life version (of the piece of art) in any expression of art.
* It means that in a novel, for example, reality doesn’t change, it is well organized in contrast to real life that always varies. Reality can be modified, real life can not be changed.
2. Is this anti-photographic copy the same as “highly organized version” of the real world? How do you compare this idea with Aristotle’s one about mimesis.
* It could be thought as a positive answer, yes. Mimesis is a copy of the real world, but it doesn’t reorganized it, in contrast to this “highly organized versión”, the interesting thing amog this two ideas, is that both of them are imaginary situations, so both could be modified if it is required.
3. Give three complete examples (from literature, painting and theatre) of a kind of imagined reality or world in a piece of art which is not available in any other way.
* J.R. Tolkien – Lord of The Rings (Literature) Dante - The Divine Comedy (Theatre) Dalí – The Temptation of St. Anthony.
4. What is, then, the relationship between real world and the imagined one? What is art for, then if it is not the truth?
*Art isn't meant to be the truth -it is meant to be a manifestation of an artist's concept of truth. This is the reason for the agreement on fiction to exist, and someome who appreciates art must always be aware of this when watching art, as it is the basic divide between the real, shared world and the imaginary, personal world.
5. Why do we play the game of “make-believe”? In what sense the artistic imagination is a window to reality according to Ryken?
*When you are in contact with art, you are always aware that you're facing something fictional - this is art's implicit agreement. However, since every form of art is a product of an artist's thinkin, it couldbe considered as a reality in itself, upon which the artist's perception is reflected and portrayed. Having said that, imagination plays a greater part in the creation of art that reality, but imagination can also be considered as a different manifestation of reality in itself:the manifestation of a person's wishes and visions.
6. What is important to you own community today to be considered by current artists?
*Nowadays, it is important to our community having a good education system, and quality health for everybody, so artists may consider to develop scultures, paintings, graffities, songs, poems, among others, in order to create something that our population will admire and love. This is what they should consider in order to receive good critics.
7. If you were an artist... what you would consider to be written about. Why.
* Probably, I would write about a current problem that our society is facing: Immigration. Many people in our society are discriminated only for being foreigners. I believe that Chile needs a new way of looking in this sense, that knows that we all are equals in rights and different in diversity.
8. Do you consider yourself a handicapped neighbour or are you the professional imaginator your own community is looking for? why?
* Honestly, I consider myself as a handicapped, because I think I don't have the resources or tools to become an artist. I think that I lack of enough imagination to be a professional imaginator.
9. Name three pieces of arts which have given you voice, eyes and/or tactile sense.
*The Tragedy of Hamlet (play): It is full of insanity, excessive anger, revenge, moral corruption and betrayal. The tragic love of Romeo and Juliet, and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
10. -what is the sense or meaning of "see" in Conrad's words? What is the meaning of Ryken's words?
* It means that first you have to hear the written words to form a universe that we can see by imagination. Imagination makes possible to visualize the world that the artist want to show up.
11. What is one "vision" any artist has shared with you?
* Paulo Coelho has shared his vision of life impregnated on his works. He has written about overcoming, warrior, courage, inspirational books and about an optimistic and hopeful world.
12. Name three pieces of art from which you have received a certain "vision". Explain
a. The first piece of art that create on me a certain “vision” was “La Noche Estrellada” from Vincent Van Gogh; because I could feel the painting as a real as I can write know.
b. The second one whould be “The Temptation of St. Anthony” from Dalí, because it is amazing, you could almost see does weird elements floating over there, it is just an incredible painting.
c. And last, but not least, “La Última Cena” from Leonardo Da Vinci, because it is such a minucious work, with so many details, that makes me feel like I am part of that piece of art.
13. Name three pieces of art which have created delight, enjoyment, and entertainment for you. Explain why.
* The Knight in Rusty Armor by Robert Fisher. This book has a well-written story and the characters are very entertaining when imagine them. It causes to me a great pleasure to read it, because the plot is very captivating.
Francisca, yo te amo – Jose Luis Rosasco, because it was a novel that even make me cry. It is so sad, but such a charm and lovely novel. I really enjoyed it.
Mala onda – Alberto Fuget, this is probably my most favorite novel of all. It made me feel very delight while I was reading it. I read it in a couple of hours. La casa de los espíritus – Isabel Allende, because it was maybe the first book that I have ever read. I feel part of that story; the way that she wrote it was the thing that enjoyed my mind.

Play: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. A tragic and passionate love.
Painting: The Last Dinner by Leonardo Da Vinci. Sacred people and the Master of master, Jesus.
Statue: The thinker by Auguste Rodin - A symbol of philosophy, of the action of thinking thoroughly.
18. Explain why these three pieces of work have produced such an enlargement of the sense of reality.
* These pieces of art make us think about how people can live their lives in her own realities and that makes us to live the same story, where the unreal comes real.
